Using the English translation of S. Aini’s novel "Memories," this article analyzes the interpretation of the stylistic device of simile. It is noted that the novel is important for introducing the culture and traditions of the Tajik people to the world. As a stylistic device, similes play a significant role in conveying expressiveness and conveying national and cultural information. The article examines and analyzes translation methods for the stylistic device of simile. An analysis of translations of figurative simile revealed that translation occurs primarily through translational transformations, such as substitution or omission of one of the components of the comparative expression, as well as changes in sentence syntax. It is emphasized that translation adequacy is preserved thanks to lexical and grammatical transformations. It is concluded that interpretation plays an important role in the translation of literary texts and requires special attention when translating figurative language.
