Abstract

ThearticleexaminestheuseofparalinguisticmeanstoexpresshumanemotionalstatesinGermanandTajikliterarytexts, drawingonworksbyJ. Hopfner, T. Mann, andF. Mukhammadiev. The study aims to identify the ways in which emotional states are denoted through paralinguistic means and to determine the specific characteristics of their functioning within literary texts. The study examines psychophysiological and communicative emotional states expressed through facial expressions, gestures, body movements, and other paralinguistic means. Particular attention is paid to emotional kinemes, as well as to the distinction between standard and non-standard paralinguistic means and the ways they are designated. The representation of characters' emotional states is analyzed based on German and Tajik literary works. It has been established that standard paralinguistic devices are employed more actively in German literary texts when describing characters' emotional states, whereas such usage is less pronounced in Tajik literary texts. The observed differences stem from the specific characteristics of literary texts in both languages and the individual styles of their authors.
