The article examines process predicates and the ways of expressing them in the Tajik and English languages. It is noted that in both Tajik and English the predicate constitutes the main axis in the sentence. It is assumed that the semantic types of process predicates are probably related to the semantic classification of semantic verbs. It is also emphasized that all expressions of process predicates are united by the general meaning of the process. A process predicate, in addition to simple non-derivative verbs, can be expressed by derivative or phrasal verbs when used independently and/or as part of analytical verb constructions. A predicate with procedural semantics can also be expressed by a multi-component verbal analytical construction.
