DIDACTIC FUNCTION OF LEXICAL REPETITIONS IN AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL NARRATIVE: THEMES, TRANSLATION STRATEGIE

Abstract

The article examines lexical repetition as an important linguapoetic device in the autobiographical prose of Sadriddin Aini using the example of his “Memories”. Attention is paid to the recurring lexemes denoting the seasons of the year (“winter”, “autumn”), as well as the key characters – “padar” (father) and “modar” (mother). It is shown that repetition serves multiple functions: creating the rhythmic and compositional structure of the text and conveying emotional and philosophical content. Seasonal lexemes act as metaphors for stages of life, reflecting the protagonist's inner state and the sociocultural context of the era. The images of father and mother carry deep cultural and emotional connotations, symbolizing family values, continuity, and existential questions. The translation strategies applied in the Russian version generally preserve the semantics and emotional richness of the original, although stylistic simplifications are observed in some places. Linguistic and poetic analysis of repetitions reveals the multi-layered nature of the text and contributes to a deep understanding of the author’s concept of life, human experiences, and historical and cultural context. It is demonstrated that lexical repetition in autobiographical prose is a key element of semantic organization, reflecting the philosophy of life and social realities of Tajik society of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
