ENGLISH BORROWINGS AND THEIR TRANSLATION INTO RUSSIAN

Avtors

Khikmatulloeva N.A.

Abstract

The article examines the features of English borrowings in contemporary Russian, their typology, adaptation processes, and translation challenges. It is noted that, in the context of globalization, English functions as the primary source of lexical innovations, influencing professional, scientific, cultural, and everyday communication. The main reasons for the active borrowing of Anglicisms are analyzed, including technological progress, international cooperation, media influence, and social prestige. Special attention is given to the classification of borrowings according to their degree of adaptation, domain of use, and stylistic characteristics. Author focuses on productive word-formation models, examples of calques, and pseudo-Anglicisms are highlighted. The main translation strategies—transliteration, calquing, equivalent and descriptive translation, stylistic adaptation, and retention of the original form—are considered. The author concludes that Anglicisms not only enrich the Russian lexicon but also reflect the dynamics of cultural and communicative processes, demonstrating the necessity of a conscious and professional approach to their use and translation in contemporary contexts.
