The article reviews the use of synonyms in law enforcement bodies documents. Concrete examples show the scientific and practical importance of their semantic and lexical details in this field. It is noted that language and legal terminology is one of the most basic means of expressing the activities of a law enforcement officer and has a number of lexical, semantic, morphological, syntactic and stylistic features that ensure success in activities. In the requisites of lexical categories, the referent position is very important, as Tajik language, due to its developed and complex lexical structure, has quite a few polysemantic and synonymous words used in legal spheres with terminological transformation. Hence, it requires a careful approach to synonyms, poly-semantic words and homonyms when using lexical categories.
