Designing on the premise of explanatory dictionaries, the author carried out periodization of lexicon development and grain crops terminology. It is underscored that the period of evolution of vocabulary, formation of notions and terms related to grain growing coincides with the Aryan one of language history. Modern Tajik-Persian terminology is traced back by its roots just to the Aryan period. Classification of lexical material is done according to lexico-semantic signs. The conclusion is made that the overwhelming majority of common and individual nominations of cereals pertains to primordial Tajik words originating from the word formof the ancient Iranian language. Among other lexical units pertaining to nominations of cereals primordial Tajik words compose the main part. The analysis of lexico-semantic groups of this part included into the basic stock of words of the Tajik language enables to shed light on the general systemic interconnection between language units and to show the processes of its development.
