Abstract

The article dwells on the emergency of variability of one verbal phraseological unit on the example of six historical chronicles referring to the X-th –the XIII-th centuries and indicates the advantage of two groups of variable phraseological units on phonetical, lexical and morphological classification in the historical sources under consideration. As a result of a comparative analysis of a group of stable phrases and phraseological units, the author of the article comes to the conclusion that partly such a variation occurs in most chronicles, and partly it is used only occasionally. In comparison with the morphological variability, lexical variability is more common in the chronicles referring to the X-th –the XIII-th centuries. Factors targeted at the emergence of variability of some phrases in the relevant works are different and it can be argued with confidence that one of these factors is the influence of the local dialects spoken by the literary productions` authors. The structural construction of variable phraseological units occurs as a result of the replacement of synonymous words and the use of grammatical elements, some of which are uncommon phrases.
