Alongside of verbal properties the infinitive in modern English and Tajik has got some properties of the noun, which find their realization in the syntactical function of the infinitive in the sentence. Like the noun this verbal may function as the subject, object, or nominal part of the predicative. Besides, the Tajik infinitive is widely used in the function of adverbial modifiers which is restricted in English. The Tajik infinitive may have the plural number and can be used together with preposition and izafet “-и”.
