SOME FEATURES OF THE USE OF SYNONYMS IN THE WORKS OF SAIFUDDIN ISFARANGI

Abstract

This article examines the use of synonyms in the poetic legacy of Saifuddin Isfarangi, a renowned Tajik poet of the second half of the 12th and 13th centuries. It notes that of the numerous scholars who have studied the poet's style, only a few have paid attention to the principles of selecting synonymous units in his works. Therefore, to date, no independent study has been conducted specifically devoted to the analysis of synonyms in his poetry, which determined the choice of this topic as the central focus of this paper. It is noted that Saifuddin forms synonyms using various lexical elements. In addition to using existing synonyms, the poet creates his own synonymous phrases and sentences. It is emphasized that he pays particular attention to the nuances of meaning of each word. Saifuddin Isfarangi uses synonymous vocabulary not within a single line, but in different independent bayts.
