The article analyzes the work of Hafiz Shirazi from the perspective of morphosyntactic word formation. Drawing on a substantial body of empirical data, the study examines compound adjectives following the [noun + noun] pattern. It has been established that compound substantivized adjectives in Hafiz’s ghazals exhibit a number of features, including: 1) they appear in a pattern where the positions of the components are swapped; 2) they are used in both full and truncated forms; and 3) they stand in synonymic relationships; 4) some of them are used in two grammatical functions: as a noun and as an adjective; 5) some of them are used only in the function of a noun; 6) they have acquired the characteristics of the grammatical category of the noun. Other features of compound adjectives formed according to the [noun + noun] model are also examined in detail.
