The article dwells on the issue beset with genre synthesis in Persian-Tajik mathnawi referring to 14th - 15th centuries. It is noted that, although the synthesis of poetic genres in Persian-Tajik literature began in the 11th century, the relevant phenomenon reached its highest perfection and development in the mathnawi appertaining to the 14th – the first half of the 15th century acquiring its own formal, semantic and stylistic peculiarities. Based on the analysis of various literary genres in the composition of mathnawi of this period: farda, dubaiti, rubai, ghazals, qit'a and qasida the author of the article comes to the conclusion that they arose as a result of innovations of mathnawi poets who worked in this era, and are a kind of departure from the prevailing literary traditions. Although the mixture of genres is considered a formal-structural phenomenon, but in the mathnawi of this period this technique is also used to express semantic features.
