The article examines Tajik words borrowed from the ancient Turkic language. Based on factual material from the “Ancient Turkic Dictionary”, the penetration of 239 original Tajik words into the Ancient Turkic language was established. These lexical elements, depending on the characteristics of their use, adapted to the phonetic, lexical-semantic, word-formation, morphological and syntactic patterns of the borrowing (ancient Turkic) language. Some of the borrowed words were used in specific forms, others were used in two or three parallel versions, in certain cases, borrowed vocabulary was used on a par with their Turkic synonyms. It has been determined that the lexical composition of the ancient Turkic language included not only independent words, but also individual auxiliary elements.
