Abstract

It is noted that in the first half of the twentieth century, under the influence of significant social, political and cultural transformations, ancient professional musical traditions, singing and composing styles, widespread in the city of Khujand and its environs, entered a new historical stage of development. The role of one of the most famous masters of musical culture of the 19th century, Buzurghon-tura, who had a great influence on the formation of new traditions of the singing and composing school of Khujand, is highlighted. It is emphasized that the famous Tajik musician Sodirkhon Hafiz, during his apprenticeship with Buzurghon-tura, learned not only the art of music, but also the art of creating musical instruments. The creative connections of the musical masters of Bukhara and Samarkand with the masters of the Fergana Valley, including Khujand, have been identified. It is concluded that one of the most important features of the Khujand school of performing makoms is the creative continuation of the traditions of “Duvozdahmakom”, as convincingly evidenced by the unique ancient examples of “Guler Sodirkhon”, “Shakhnoz Sodirkhon”, “Kashkarcha Sodirkhon”, “Dilharosh Sodirkhon” and others.
