The article is devoted to the study of phraseological units and their main features in English and Tajik languages. It is noted that polysemantic phraseological units can be divided into semantic fields. The given article includes semantic fields denoting man’s properties confirmed with examples taken from fiction. The analysis shows that the main part of the phraseological polysemantic units in both compared languages can form an equivalent with only one meaning. It is asserted that polysemantic phraseological units in the Tajik language have more semantic shades of meanings than in English and most of them have two or three meanings.
