THE WORDS NOMINATING MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AND MELODIES IN NIZAMI`S “PENTATEUCH”

Abstract

For the first time in Tajik linguistics there are analyzed the terms designing the names of musical instruments and harmonies with concords; those ones included into Nizami`s “Pentateuch” and correlated with the terms occurred in Firdawsi`s “Shah-Name”. It is marked that upon the whole twenty three musical instruments are mentioned in Nizami`s poems. Designing on the premises of the materials included into authoritative interpretation dictionaries “Ghiyas-al-Lughat” and “Burhoni Kote”, the author of the article conducted etymological analysis of the nominations of the mentioned instruments. It is underscored that the names of musical instruments are closely connected with the thematics and contents of respective sections of the poems. It is singled out especially that the greater part of musical instruments having their own nominations in “Shah-Name” and “Khamse”, such ones as rubab, tanbur, chang, nay, daf, tabl, karnay inclusive, are considered to be traditional musical instruments of Persian-speaking peoples also today; Tajiks appertaining to the latters as well.
