Abstract

The article dwells on the relationship of one of the historical books of the XI century – «The History of Baykhaki» by Abulfazl Bayhaqi with modern Tajik dialects. It is noted that the language of the work is distinguished by its simplicity and smoothness, and many words used by the author are understandable to every contemporary Tajik. These words, expressions and constructions today are widely used not only in modern Tajik literary language, but their main part as the necessary lexical elements is also used in modern Tajik dialects and adverbs.

On the basis of some examples, the characteristics of the use of words and expressions in the «History of Baykhaki» were described and an attempt was made to analyze their level of safety in the speech of the residents of various regions of Tajikistan. The author of the article comes to the conclusion that some of the lexical elements that exist in the «History of Bayhaqi» are still used today in the Tajik language, sometimes in the same ancient form and sometimes in a modified form.
