Abstract

In her article the author analyses an impact of religion on the formation of gender stereotypes in the social light of gender construction theory. For this she emphasizes the fact that traditional gender stereotypes are being strengthened, considers the groups of stereotypes being a part of social consciousness in Tajikistan. The author, in the frames of feminist approach, considers gender relations as socially organized power and inequality relations. In her article the author adduces the results of her ethnographic research, proceeding from the material of the social networks of “Facebook” and “Odnoklassniki” (Classmates) where people usually openly express their views and talk about their preferences. The author also ties gender relations with religion, and with religiosity/anti-religiosity. She shares her observations, notes and preliminary conclusions concerned with the sway of religious outlooks over weakening or strengthening of traditional gender stereotypes in the Tajik society.
