Proceeding from the analysis of the written sources, the author canvasses Tajiks` participation in the management with Kokand Khanate. The author analyzes Alim-khan`s military reform and the participation of Karateghiners, Darvazers, Badakhshoners, Kulobers, Hissarers, Rushaners, Shughnaners and Chatrorers in Kokand army formation. The essence of Alim-khan`s policy, extension of the territory of the state and its conversion into the Khanate are revealed in the article. The author generalizes the information in regard to state coup d’état, Alim-khan`s death, Umar-khan`s ascension to power. He adduces the data concerned with the extension of the territory of the state as the result of Umar-khan`s conquestial wars, his military march to Ura-Tyube. Alongside with historical literary sources the author widely resorts to the following written ones: «Anjumat at-Tavorikh» (Stars of History) by Khudoyorzoda, «Tarikhi Turkistan» (Turkistan`s History) by Mirzo Olim Mahmudkhoja, «Ansob us-Salotin va Tavorikh ul-Khavoqin» by Mirzoolim Mushrif characterizing the period referring to the governance of both Alim-khan and Umar-khan.
