Comparative studies of languages is one of the actual problems of modern linguistics. Proceeding from this consideration, the author devoted her article to the comparative study of the grammatical category of number of nouns in Arabic and Tajik languages. Special attention is paid to the usage of the forms of dual number and broken plural which are absent in the Tajik language.
