The article dwells on the analysis of the transformation of izafet word-combination into a compound word. It is asserted that fakki izofa ( izafet falling out) can testify to the beginning of the transformation of a word-combination into a compound word. Proceeding from the examples taken from “Charoghi khidoyat” interpretation dictionary (the XVIIIc.) the author proves that the meaning of fakki izofa (izafet falling out) phenomenon in the formation of a compound word was shown by Sirojuddin Alikhon Orzu almost hundred years before Mukhammad Ghiyosuddin, the author of “Ghiyos-ul-lugot” (the XIX-th c.), modern scientists usually refer to when researching the problem in question. The author comes to the conclusion that the principles of the formation of compound words were in the centre of attention of the authors of interpretation dictionaries in the Middle Ages yet.
