On Handwritings of the Scholars of Pre-Islamic Persian Epistolopraphy

Abstract

The article  dwells on the types of script (handwritings) used by secretaries (dabironi  devon) of ministries. The author of the article  proceeding from the data of reliable  originals  makes a brief review of the epistolography of genre development in the  epoch of the Sasanides, its peculiarities, style and language of the pre-Islamic prose, contribution of dabirs of Iranic origin into the formation and development of Arabic script (craftsmanship). It is ascertained  that for epistolography dabirons used different types of handwritings which differed  both  outwardly and from  the point of view of alphabets and characteristic forms of indication to vowels (kharakats).
