The Tale about Maryam and Hakimi Shirvani’s “Christian Kasyda”

Abstract

The article dwells on the analysis of the story about Maryam in Hakani’s “Christian Kasyda”. Proceeding from its study and comprehension, it becomes clear that the most important aspects of the history referring to Maryam are used for a creation of poetic works. In Hakani’s “Christian Kasyda” the majority of details and episodes from the tale about Maryam are used. Interrelation and interpenetration of particulars provided an active presence of the tale in the composition of the kasyda. It is underscored that the images of Maryam and Isa are very often used in special word-combinations and phrases in Persian-Tajik Literature beginning with Rudaki and finishing with today’s men-of-letters. These images caused an appearance of metaphorical and allegorical expressions: “Jesus, son of Maria”, the thread of Maria, “the needle of Jesus”, “speaking baby”, “the flower of the world”, “mother’s silence”. The latters testify to the great place and significance of the given tale in our literature.
