On the Place of Borrowed Lexis in Surush's Poetry

Abstract

In this article the author analyzes the peculiarities of borrowed words on the creation of one of the well-known contemporary Tajik poets. It is noted that Arabic borrowings in the poet's creation can be classified respective of their usage: a part of Arabic borrowings accepting Tajik affixes perform certain sensible and stylistic functions. It is stressed that the majority of Arabic borrowings in Surush's creation presents conversational lexis. Arabic borrowings expressing religious notions occur in poet's verses. The borrowings in question completely subordinate to pronunciation and grammatical structure of the Tajik language and take an active part in word-building on a par with usual language units. Classification of compound words consisting of Arabic and Tajik components is carried out. The conclusion is made that the majority of borrowed lexis in poet's creation consists of Arabic words which have preserved a number of grammatical and sensible specificities in spite of linguistic changes.
