The article emphasizes that, within the prose of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the one-part simple sentences predominantly employed are verbal ones; in terms of semantics and the grammatical forms of the predicate verb, these can be categorized into definite-personal, indefinite-personal, generalized-personal, and impersonal sentences. The analysis shows that definite-personal sentences are used very frequently. In the texts of the three works under consideration, one-part generalized-personal sentences play an important role in conveying sayings and proverbs and in formulating aphorisms. It is noted that the number of impersonal sentences in these texts is insignificant.
