Abstract

The article offers a historical and substantive analysis of national, state, religious and family holidays and rituals in Tajikistan during the period of independence. It is noted that during this period, three main trends are observed in the holidays: the revival of ancient traditions, the introduction of new elements into the holidays of the Soviet period, and the emergence of new holidays characteristic of the period of independence. It is noted that Navruz and state holidays initiated and supported by the cultural policy of the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon have acquired a special status. The Mehrgan, Sada, and Tirgan holidays have been revived. The historical and cultural significance of these holidays and their role in spiritual education, fostering patriotism, and strengthening national unity are analyzed. It is emphasized that during the period of independence, some holidays from the Soviet period, alien to Tajiks, disappeared, and new holidays closely associated with the country's independence appeared.
