The article analyzes the Shakhrisabz military-scientific expedition conducted by Russian armed detachments in August 1870. The reasons for the success of the expedition under the command of A.K. are considered. Abramov, who put an end to the robberies of villages on the border of the Zeravshan district by Shakhrisabz beks. The motives of the Russian command, the influence of the expedition on regional politics and the consequences for ensuring stability in the region are also examined. A detailed chronological account of the events is offered, starting with preparations for the expedition and ending with its consequences after the liberation of Shakhrisabz and the surrounding territories. The tactics of the assault, military operations and interaction with the Bukhara Emir Muzaffar are described. The importance of this expedition as a factor in stabilization in the region, the suppression of rebel begs and the establishment of control over strategically important territories is emphasized. In addition, the role of the military-scientific expedition in the development and study of the region, which has become the object of interest of various specialists is noted as well.
