The article examines the contribution of Professor Nazirjon Tursun-zade to the study of the historical topography of Khujand at the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th centuries. It is mentioned that N. Tursun-zade provided interesting materials about the location of Khujand at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, about the length of the defensive wall surrounding Khujand, about the city gates and their role in the political, economic and social life of the period under review, about parts of the city - Arka (kuhandiz), Shakhristan and Rabat, the Russian settlement that arose after the conquest of Khujand by Tsarist Russia, about the number of residential courtyards of the city, suburban villages, its mosques, mazars and markets. It is concluded that N. Tursun-zade, as a famous researcher of the history of Khujand, based on historical sources, archival, statistical, ethnographic materials and information from Russian researchers, shed light on undisclosed aspects of the history of the city, therefore, the study of the scientist’s activities can lead to the disclosure of important moments in the history of Khujand.
