Abstract

The article examines the poetry of "shikwa", or "shikwoiya" ("plaintive poetry"), which is considered one of the varieties of old Arab-Ajamian poetry. The aim of the study was also the formation and development of this type of poetry in Iran, in particular in the literary region of Gurgan. It is noted that Kazi Gurgani is considered an outstanding Arabic-language poet of Iranian origin, who was part of the Gurgan literary circle. The poet's pen belongs to many examples of Arabic-language Persian-Tajik poetry of various genres. The poet's legacy abounds in literary works, among which his lament poems occupy a special place. A thematic classification of Kazi Gurgani's lament poetry samples has been conducted. The poems are divided into different groups: “complaints about life”, “complaints about people”, “complaints about old age”, “complaints about friends”, translated and analyzed by the author of the work.
