Proceeding from the report on Turkestan region revision performed by Senator K. K. Palen in conformity with the fiat of Emperor Nicolay the Second, the author of the article considers the state of trade and industry in Northern Tajikistan referring to the period embracing the second half of the XIX-th – the beginning of the XX-th centuries. It is marked that due to Russian entrepreneurs who reached the region in question new types of extraction industry arose in this area. There is especially emphasized the role of Russian capital and banking institutions in the development of trade-industry relations. The author has conducted an analysis of the process related to upspringing of manufacturing enterprises, building of Middle-Asian railway, plants and factories. Mining characteristics, extraction of coal, minerals, etc inclusive, are adduced. It is stated that Khodzent together with its uyezd enjoying the commercial circulation of three million roubles occupied the second place in the region after the city of Samarkand and Samarkand uyezd.
