The semantic features and specifics of the use of collective nouns denoting kinship terms in the modern literary Tajik language are considered. Based on the linguistic material, it is proved that the analyzed terms of kinship differ in the degree of usage: most of them are frequently used, some nouns are not commonly used, the words of the third group are not used in the modern Tajik language. It is emphasized that the last group of collective nouns in the modern literary language is part of the historical and archaic vocabulary and is used mainly in the language of historical prose. n the vocabulary of the Tajik language, along with the original Tajik collective nouns denoting the concept of kinship, there are also borrowed Arabic, Turkic, Mongolian terms.
