CHRONICLE OF ARTS AS A SOURCE FOR STUDYING THE HISTORY OF CULTURE OF TAJIKISTAN

Abstract

The article dwells on the series of issues devoted to the art of the Tajik people prepared and published by the department of history under the Institute of History and Ethnography named after A. Donish attached to the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan; their role in the studies of the culture of Tajikistan being canvassed. It is marked that since the first years of the foundation of the department its officers got down to the edition of works dealing with musical, theatrical, decorative-applied and other sorts of the art of the Tajik people, both modern and pre-revolutionary ones. Since 1956 and up to 1979 there were published four issues of «The Art of the Tajik Nation» containingthe articles written on the basis of the materials of the expeditions engaged in art studies. Further on the Institute published the issues «Musical Life of Tajikistan» and «Chronicles of the Arts of Tajikistan». These editions contain chronicles and bibliography of musical, visual, architectural and cinematographical arts.
