Paradoxical Descriptions in Bedyl's Gazels

Abstract

The author of the article makes an endeavour to analyze the place of paradoxical descriptions in Bedyl's gazels and fix the role of this outstanding representative of Indian style in the evolution of this given poetical figure.

He traces a presence of paradoxical descriptions (oxymoron) in other literatures (particularly, in Japanese one). It is asserted that in Persian-Tajik literature a pioneer who discovered the figure of oxymoron in poetry is Ozod Balghimori who nominated it as vifok. It is underscored that separate patterns of vifok can be occurred yet in the works of the founder of the Tajik-Persian literature Rudaki and in mystical poetry as well. Vifok enjoyed a special diffusion in the creation of Indian style representatives. Am emphasis is laid upon the fact that authentic efflorescence of vifok is observed in Bedyl's poetry.
