Avtors

Huseinov Farrukh Rahimovich

Abstract

Designing on the premise of mediaeval originals and modern literature, the author of the article analyzes a ceremonial of raising Seldjuk sultans to the throne. He considers those changes which took place in conducting of the ceremonial in question in Khorasan related to Seldjukids’ ascension to power. It is underscored that Seldjukids tried to continue a reverence of local traditions and legitimized their power just as previous dynasties have been doing it. The author dwells on the arisen tradition of distribution of state lands by the sultan between dynasty representatives and military leaders on the day of coronation included into the ceremonial. It is marked that this ceremonial element promoted an intensification of centrifugal forces; the latters exerting negative influence over the course of history concerned with the state of Seldjuks. A rise of Turkic tradition included into the ceremonial is elicited. The ceremonials conducted by Seldjuk sultans in Khorasan and Minor Asia are correlated.
