Proceeding from the analysis of written sources and historical investigations, the author considers the years referring to the governance of Ming dynasty in Kokand Khanate. He reveals the essence of usurpatory policy of the first Kokand governors on extension of the state territory, in particular, the conquest of the area inhabited by Kyrgyz and Kazakh tribes; construction of numerous fortresses being touched upon too. The author of the article describes the struggle of challengers for Khanate throne being thirsty for power and also the marches of Bukhara emir Nasrulla against Kokand. The events connected with the conquest of Kokand Khanate by Bukhara emirate and extermination of khan’s family are expounded in the article. On a par with historical literature historico-literary originals are resorted to by the author on a wide scale, among the latters there are: “Anzhum at-Tavorikh” by Khudoyorzod, “Muntahab at-Tavorih” by Khakim-khan, “Ansob us-Salotin va Tavorikh ul-khavokin” by Mirzoolim Mushrif; archival materials and European (Russian) sources being used as well.
